British Explorer aims to break North Pole Speed Record

Have you heard of Ben Saunders the polar explorer and record-breaking long-distance skier? He is the youngest person to have skied solo to the North Pole, he has four North Pole expeditions under his belt and holds the record for the longest solo Arctic journey by a Brit.
Since 2001, Ben has skied more than 2,500km (1,500 miles) in the high Arctic.
After four North Pole expeditions he is now preparing for three other groundbreaking expeditions between 2010 and 2012.
He will be leaving the UK next Monday to undertake his latest expedition to the North Pole which he will be doing alone, on foot, without any air-drops of food and with the world speed record as his goal.
The expedition, supported by Land Rover, aims to break the current speed record of 36 days and 22 hours. Ben will also be supported by two iconic British brands, the Bremont Watch Company and Sunspel.
After this, Ben still has plans for 2011-2012, to do the Scott Antarctic Expedition. He actually says that ‘the speed record attempt will be a unique stepping-stone to the Scott Antarctic Expedition’, which he hopes will be a fitting way to mark the Centenary of Captain Robert Falcon Scott’s last expedition.

We wish Ben all the best with his endeavours and safe return!
