ESPN, the sport coverage has launched ESPN Player, a new online video streamer for Europe and in the Middle East similar to its US service ESPN360.
The first content available on ESPN Player will be the majority of the second half of the 2009-10 NHL season, including the playoffs. The ‘Player’ has a lot of nice features like the ‘NHL Highlight Marker’ with which you can stop, rewind or jump to goals. There is also ‘HD Adaptive Streaming’, a feature that ensures less buffering and smoother, higher-quality video. The service is targeting two major groups of sports fans, Europeans and Americans living overseas. According to the ESPN head of commercial affairs, Robin Ashton, the most attractive feature is the multi-language option for the European market.
No worries then if you can’t follow ‘the Match’ on TV, you just need a laptop and internet connection and you’re saved!
