Zoe Smith wins bronze at the Commonwealth Games today

It has been a glorious day today for Zoe Smith, the youngest English athlete to ever qualify for the Commonwealth Games. She did us proud by managing a huge combined lift of 188kg.

Australia’s Seen Lee ended 4kgs ahead of Zoe securing silver leaving India’s Renu Bala victorious in front of her home crowd, leading by 5kgs to win gold.

“It’s a shame about my last two lifts, but I am just pleased to get a medal,” said Zoe.

“It is not a gold medal hanging around my neck but I don’t care at the moment – it is a Commonwealth medal and it hasn’t sunk in at all.

“I am delighted with the way I performed although I was nervous at the start.”

It’s great news for Zoe and a amazing personal achievement for the young Brit.”

Zoe Smith Prepares for the Common Wealth Games!

Zoe is one of the strongest girls in Britain.

At the tender age of only 16 she can already lift almost twice her body weight and holds over 300 records, standing at only 5ft 2″.

She will be appearing at the Delhi Common Wealth Games tomorrow at 9.30am GMT (6th Oct) where she will be representing her country and is the youngest ever English person to qualify.

Not only has she been training hard for the Games but she has also had to try and squeeze in studying for her GCSEs at the same, which is no small task!

Good luck to her. Let’s hope she does us proud!

Samsung to organize the World’s biggest Dodgeball Game

On the 12th of May in New York City something pretty unusual is going to happen.
Get prepared to see what sport and an electronic worldwide company could do together.

Samsung is organising the biggest game of Dodgeball ever. Samsung’s aim here is to set the Guinness World Record for the largest game. For this event there will be 1,500 dodgeball players but also 600 balls on hand to be used in the record-setting game. Players will have the opportunity to win Samsung Reality new phones and gift cards. This event has obviously been created to launch ‘The Reality’ Samsung’s new social networking phone. It’s quite an impressive advertising campaign.
Why did the company choose Dodgeball as a sport though? Maybe they fought it would be funnier and it would gather more people.

If you want to be part of the event, it’s never too late, you can RSVP through it’s Facebook page by clicking the Dodgeball tab and inputting all of your information. You can also stay updated via the hash tag #dodgethis through Twitter.

Nike turns London into a Gameboard for running Promo

Nike always have impressed us with their adverts and campaign. Never lacking creativity.
Well this Friday at 8PM Londoners get prepared to be part of a huge interactive street game created by Nike of course!
The sportswear brand is inviting active people to take part in the ‘Nike Grid‘ street game. The aim of the event is to engage urban residents in a sport quest, which will take 24 hours and cover the whole city. The city is divided into 40 postcodes zones and four phoneboxes in each. The participants must run from one phonebooth to another within the zone. The more routes they run, the more points they score. The participants need to tell their names and age while registering, and they have to dial a special number before and after each run within their grid.
Sounds like Foursquare on a treadmill right!? Become the fittest and fastest mayor of your area!
If you want to be part of it, read the rules on the Facebook fan-page and register at the Nike Grid website.
